Freelancer is an account exclusively for those who are Resident in Pakistan, engaged in provision of any digital/online services, including IT and IT related services against which payments are received from outside Pakistan.
AL Habib Freelancer Account can be opened by visiting Conventional and Islamic Banking branches of BAHL or digitally by visiting our website AL Habib Digital Account
The customer does not need to visit any branch, and he/she can open Digital Account from their Mobile Phone or Computer via internet.
Maximum turn-around time (TAT) for decision to open and activate or decline is 2 working days from the time the required documents/ information have been submitted/ uploaded and verification completed.
Individual Current and Savings accounts are offered in single and joint category.
Yes, the account is also available in Islamic Banking variant.
You can receive your remittances and work payments into your PKR Freelancer Account.
Exchange rates are dynamic and new conversion rates are announced daily by the Bank for inward foreign remittance.
Cash withdrawal shall only be done in PKR. FCY cash withdrawal from these accounts shall not be allowed in this account.
Debit card will only be issued for PKR account. Debit cards can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs countrywide via 1Link and MNET Networks, POS, online purchases, etc.
No, Funds available in AL Habib AL Habib Freelancer Account shall be treated as non-repatriable and can only be used for making payments/withdrawals etc. in Pakistan only.
Yes, local credits are allowed in this account.
Yes, customer may opt for more than one account at a time.
AL Habib Freelance Account is available in PKR only. However, a linked exporter special foreign currency account in FCY is being offered in USD, GBP and EUR currencies.
Following are the minimum documents required to open AL Habib AL Habib Freelancer Account.
- Scanned/ copy of original ID card (CNIC/ NICOP/ POC)
- Undertaking that the source of funds is freelance activities
- Undertaking to confirm beneficial ownership of funds/ controlling rights and other information provided during the opening of account
- FATCA/CRS declarations, if required
- Acceptance of Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) and consent to use the information/ documents provided for due diligence and supervisory functions
Yes, if customer is already having a relationship with Bank AL Habib i.e., AL Habib Asaan Account, AL Habib Asaan Remittance Account or AL Habib Woman Asaan.
Yes, minor may open AL Habib Freelancer Account with a resident guardian.
Yes, monthly profit will be paid on AL Habib Freelancer Savings Account and calculated on monthly average balance.

Zakat & taxes are applicable as per government regulations and directives of SBP.

Once your account is biometrically verified, your cheque book and/or debit card will be sent to your preferred posted address. In case if the courier is failed to deliver the same at your doorstep, you will be intimated from your preferred branch for the collection of your cheque book and debit card.
The customer will have to visit BAHL official website (www.bankalhabib.com) and will self-register on the internet banking portal to avail iBanking services.
No, there is no maximum or minimum balance limit on AL Habib Freelancer Account. However, you are allowed to retain USD 5,000/- per month or 50% of the export proceeds, whichever is higher, in ESFCAs.
ESFCA means Exporter’s Special Foreign Currency Account; this is a linked account and will be opened by the bank upon opening of AL Habib Freelancer Account. It is a retention account that can be requested to be opened in three type of foreign currencies USD, GBP & EUR. Furthermore, up to 50% of the export’s proceeds can be credited into ESFCA for retention of USD or making business payments abroad. Permissible amount shall be retained in ESFCAs, unless an exporter specifically requests in writing to the Bank for less/ not crediting the export proceeds in the ESFCA.
The funds available in the ESFCAs can be converted into PKR at any time upon the request of the customer.
Yes, ESFCA account linked with AL Habib Freelancer Account may be utilized for making all personal and own work-related payment for example, digital services, digital marketing, membership/ subscription fees, acquiring certification, study etc.
ESFCA account linked with IT Exporters, account may be utilized for making all types of payment for example imports, acquisition of services from abroad, profit/ dividend repatriation against registered shares etc.
