Roshan Digital Account provides an opportunity for Non-Resident / Overseas Pakistanis to remotely open a bank account with SBP designated Pakistani banks through an entirely digital and online process. This account will enable them to avail banking services like funds transfer, remittances, bills & fee payments, and invest in various instruments including stocks / shares.

Roshan Digital Account allows multiple options for investment which are as follows:
- Shares quoted on the Stock Exchange in Pakistan.
- Pakistani-rupee denominated Deposit products of the banks maintaining the account.
- Pakistani rupee-denominated debt securities of Government of Pakistan (including Pakistani-rupee Naya Pakistan Certificates, T-bills, PIBs, Sukuk and any other registered securities of the government as notified from time to time).
- Residential and commercial real estate
A Roshan Equity Investment account (GEM Account) is opened on behalf of the Investor with Bank AL Habib and is used for trading in shares.
In order to authenticate each trade and transaction executed in the stock market, NCCPL registers’ investors by assigning a Unique Identification Number (UIN). Registered UINs are provided to the Stock Exchange by NCCPL and it is mandatory for brokers to enter UIN while trading.
A Custody Account is a shares custody account opened with Bank AL Habib in Central Depository System.
Gateway to Equity Market – “GEM” is a web based service through which GEM Account Holders can settle their trades executed at Stock Exchange directly through their respective GEM Account. Investors can contact the broker only for the execution of trades. Further details about settlement and report are available on the GEM Portal provided to RDA GEM Account holders.
You can go to the website www.bankalhabib.com, select “AL Habib Roshan Digital Account” and select “Roshan Equity Investment”. On this page, select “Apply Now” and fill in the details under “GEM Application”. After providing the details, submit the application.
You will receive an ‘Acknowledgement Email’ from Bank AL Habib as soon we receive the consent and information from you.
In 24 hours of receiving the acknowledgement mail and if your Information/ credentials were found complete and correct, you will receive an Account Opening Package email, comprising of the following actions and details:
- Opening of your GEM Linked Account with Bank AL Habib.
- Creation and Registration of your Unique Identification Number (UIN).
- Opening of your Custody Account (GEM – CDC Sub Account).
- Activation of GEM Portal and Broker Trading Account (ID & Password provided through email).
- Creation of your CDC Web Access Login ID and Password.
Schedule of Charges is available at Bank AL Habib Website and available to review at the time of opening GEM Account (Terms & Conditions apply).
Before you initiate your first trade, you have to initiate a Top up (Fund Transfer) through GEM Portal from Roshan Digital Account (RDA) to GEM – RDA Linked Account.
You can purchase shares through broker’s Online Trading App/portal easily within the amount top-up by you.
At T+2 (2 business days after transaction), Bank AL Habib (through GEM) will pay cash on your behalf against the purchase and will receive shares in your GEM - CDC Account. You can also verify and check account balance (securities and funds) through GEM Portal (web, mobile app, IVR).
You can sell your already purchased shares through your broker’s Online Trading App / portal easily.
At T+2 (2 business days after transaction), Bank AL Habib - GEM will transfer the shares out of your GEM - CDC Account and will receive cash on your behalf, which will be readily available in your GEM – RDA Linked Account for any further transactions and withdrawals.
All Corporate Action entitlements will be credited in your GEM – CDC Sub Account. Your Cash Dividends will also be made available in your RDA Account. All information regarding Corporate Actions will be available to you through CDC Access web portal and app.
Bank AL Habib (through GEM) will pay your broker’s commission from Top-up (cash transferred) by you from your Roshan Digital Account (RDA) to GEM - RDA Linked Account.
NCCPL charges are applicable on the clearing of trades and will be deducted by GEM.
